About
Cam Rivera finds Dana Andrews lost on a wilderness trail, and they partner in a desperate struggle to survive. The constant fear and risk puts distance between themselves and the lives (and partners) they left behind. Respect becomes admiration, and as their circumstances grow more dire, admiration becomes affection. At the brink of death they give in to their feelings in a heartbreaking kiss goodbye, but surviving means they go back to lives they’ve grown beyond.
Once he returns home Cam is forced to confront what his traditional Mexican family wants for his future, whether or not he wants it. He tries to live their dreams for him, rushing to get engaged to a woman he no longer loves. When the ring he purchases is an unexpected reminder of his love for Dana, he can’t pretend any longer.
Dana fears being alone more than dying alongside Cam. She returns to her boyfriend, where she finds stability and companionship. She doesn’t find a love like the way she felt about Cam. Now that she knows what she could have, she struggles to stay with someone who sees her as an accessory to his life.
Once Cam and Dana decide to give it all up for one another they struggle against differing cultures, intrusive memories of the woods and survival nightmares. If their feelings were nothing more than their extreme circumstances, they’ve sacrificed two relationships for a dream.
